The Hughes Center Collaborates w/ dCLV to Prepare Students and Parents for the Future

On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, Jenny Heilborn, Senior Advocate of the disability Law Center of Virginia visited the Hughes Center to provide literature and educational sessions to students and parents regarding transition-age youth and the importance of proper planning.  Several topics related to the world of work and adulthood were discussed, to include: education, employment, housing, guardianship, and the legal system (as it relates to individuals with disabilities).

The disability Law Center of Virginia (dCLV) advocates for and protects the legal rights of persons with disabilities.  The mission of dCLV is to advance independence, choice and self-determination; protect legal, human and civil rights; and to eliminate abuse, neglect and discrimination of people with disabilities through zealous and uncompromising legal advocacy and representation.
